I spent approximately 2 months traveling around Ethiopia as a consultant for Envirofit Quality and Testing Services. During that time I visited 47 producers, 69 government/NGO/bilateral organizations, meet with 11 focus groups, and conducted numerous stove performance tests. I outlined the current state of cookstoves in Ethiopia and the technical steps required for a successful national program including recommendations for quality assurance measures for laboratories and manufacturers, plans for a national producer certification program, and recommendations for standardized training.
